Overview

Recent studies have shown that circRNAs act as miRNA sponges in different species, called competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), which can competitively bind miRNAs and thus regulate the expression of target genes. Therefore, circRNA sequencing was used to obtain differentially expressed circRNAs, analyze miRNA binding sites, and uncover the mechanisms of circRNAs and competitive binding disease-associated miRNAs in disease regulation.

For circRNA high-throughput sequencing can be used to construct libraries by removing rRNA, and the resulting data can be analyzed not only for circRNA, but also for protein-coding genes (mRNA) and long-stranded non-coding RNA (lncRNA).
